About this collection

Dr. Thomas Saylor, Professor in the Department of History at Concordia University, St. Paul conducted this oral history project during 2010 and 2011. This oral history project was made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Cultural Heritage Grants Program—part of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. The project, Documenting Minnesota, focuses on themes of environmentalism, activism, and protest during the 1970s. The interviews in this collection cover two specific topics: protests of the planning and construction of a downtown Minneapolis stadium, the Metrodome, from 1972 to 1979; and, celebration of the 1976 American Bicentennial—specifically celebrations in Fertile and Duluth, Minnesota and leadership of the Minnesota American Revolution Bicentennial Commission (MARBC).
