About this collection

The General John W. Vessey, Jr. Oral History Project was established in 2012 with the goal of collecting and permanently preserving the experiences and memories of General John W. Vessey, Jr. during his sixty year career of military and public service, from 1939 to 1999.

The project’s specific objectives were to conduct focused and chronologically organized oral history interviews; transcribe and edit the interviews in a timely fashion; and make all interviews accessible for future research by historians, public policy experts, the U.S. military, and students of twentieth century world and national events.

Dr. Thomas Saylor of Concordia University directed this oral history project.
