About this collection

The Lutheran Free Church was in existence from 1897 until its merger with the American Lutheran Church in 1963.  Lutheran Free Churches were predominantly located in Minnesota and North Dakota.  Augsburg College origins' date back to 1869 with the founding of the Augsburg Seminary in Marshall Wisconsin.  The founders of the Seminary were instrumental in shaping the development of the Norwegian-American Lutheran Church, which ultimately became the Lutheran Free Church. Augsburg College contains many of the records of Lutheran Free Church

 

 To date, this collection contains two works by Olaf Morgan Norlie from the archives: Norsk Lutherske Prester I Amerika,1843-1913 and Who's Who Among Pastors in all the Norwegian Lutheran Synods of American 1843-1926.  Our Fellowship, a history of the Lutheran Free Church edited by A.B. Batalden and 15 catalogs of the Oak Grove Lutheran Ladies Seminary dating from 1908-1926.
