March 2. 1951 No. 12 Problems Come, Problems Go, For 'God Is the Answer to All7 What are you doing for Spiritual Emphasis Week? Not everyone can deliver stirring sermons, but everyone can pray and know that they will be heard and answered. Pray for Spiritual Emphasis Week which as_ be from March 5 through March 9. The theme is "God is the Answer." May many Auggies find that God is the answer What's in a Name? 'Nick', That Is A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. . .or would it? This idea nowadays that you can't call a person by the name his parents gave him is becoming increasingly popular. ft I can start out with the old standbys: Egor Madryga and Butch, Nails Norton. Now what newcomer to Augsburg would ever imagine that these boys had such names as Robert and John, respectively7 Then there's Egor's boy, Muns. He's called Paul Munson to his less intimate friends. Of course, there will always be some PeeWee's on campus and we have our share. Don Eckhoff has an original one svith Bones. Floor ants (Florence) Helland prefers Flea to the more conventional names. Along with that we have Jeanine Torsten- son under the alias of Nini. Due to certain recent juke-box releases, Martha Bozo Bo- zony has become Marsha (with a sigh) for John (another sigh) Leak. Jack Ott becomes some character with his Otto Von Shmotte. Then distinctively we have Smiles tacked on Bob Ott. Only Dick Pearson can claim Mutton-Head. Could it be because he's such a little lamb? On to Micks as Charles Gustafson and everybody's Pal, Bob Hage. Avis Peterson acquired Inga when school started and she met Coco and Sammy, actually Colette Peterson and Phyllis Samso. What with our Fleas, Nails, Bones, Smiles, Hicks, (excuse us) Marshas and Johns, we can't forget the Freezers! to everything. May hypocrisy be replaced by true, living, witnessing faith. Special evangelistic meetings will be held every evening during the week. Rev. Walstad will be the speaker. Spiritual Emphasis Weeks have always been times of crisis at Augsburg. Some are called to a new life, and some are called to the ministry or the mission field. Maybe you will not be called to serve in that manner, but your presence at the meetings may bring your friends, who may be. Urge everyone to attend. Attend the prayer meetings too. They will be held in the mornings and in the evenings. On Saturday evening, March 10, there will be a meeting in the chapel. There will be an opportunity to share the blessings received from the week both through hearing and taking part in personal testimonies. Every week should have spiritual emphasis. After a week of receiving many blessings, you may feel exalted, but let your attitude be one that will not change after that feeling leaves you. That, too, can be accomplished only by prayers. WHAT IS THE ANSWER FOR ALL PROBLEMS? 1 care not it God is on my side. My constant hope and prayer is that 1 may be found or. the side of God Publications to Present '51 Variety Show Everyone is invited to the Variety Show which is being held in the Music building on Saturday, March 17th. There will be no admission charged, and therefore a very large crowd is expected. The publications department is putting this show on in appreciation for the number of subscriptions received from the students and for the number of subscriptions they hope to receive during Easter vacation. This is a send off to arouse the enthusiasm of people to sell magazines during their vacation. That week will be a wonderful opportunity lor all students to contact their friends and relatives, and obtain subscriptions from them. The money from these subscriptions is to be used by the publications department in financing the Augsburgian and Echo, which are much in debt
